Laying the Foundation for Effective Sunday School Ministry
The Sunday School Teacher Training 2026 Phase 1 at Baptist Church Sanathnagar, marked the beginning of a purposeful journey to equip Sunday School teachers for an impactful ministry. This phase focused on building strong foundations—understanding children, grounding teaching in Scripture, and developing practical teaching and leadership skills.
Through eight power-packed sessions and an engaging Q&A, participants were prepared not just to teach, but to mentor, guide, and disciple the next generation.
Session 1 – Child Psychology & Understanding Children
Speaker: Bro. V. Suresh
This opening session laid the groundwork by helping teachers understand how children think and learn. Special focus was given to Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha, enabling teachers to connect with today’s children in meaningful ways.
Session 2 – Biblical & Theological Foundation
Speaker: Pastor Abishek
Phase 1 emphasized that teaching must be rooted in God’s Word. This session highlighted the importance of strong biblical and theological grounding in shaping young lives.
Session 3 – Understanding Teens in Ministry
Speaker: Bro. V. Suresh
Teachers were guided on how to engage teenagers effectively by understanding their struggles, mindset, and environment. This session equipped teachers to mentor teens with wisdom and compassion.
Session 4 – Qualities of a Sunday School Teacher
Speaker: Pastor Abhishek
This session focused on character and calling. Teachers were encouraged to cultivate spiritual maturity, patience, and consistency as they serve as role models for children.
Session 5 – Generations & Gender Differences
Speaker: Bro. Pramod
Understanding generational shifts and gender differences is essential in modern teaching. This session provided practical insights to help teachers communicate effectively with diverse groups of children.
Session 6 – Lesson Planning & Teaching Methods
Speaker: Bro. V. Suresh
Phase 1 strongly emphasized preparation. Teachers learned how to design structured lessons and use creative teaching methods to keep children engaged and attentive
Session 7 – Sunday School Management
Speaker: Bro. Pramod
This session addressed the operational side of ministry—classroom management, discipline, teamwork, and maintaining an organized learning environment.
Session 8 – Sharing the Gospel & Discipling Children
Speaker: Bro. V. Suresh
The heart of Phase 1—leading children to Christ. Teachers were equipped with practical ways to share the Gospel clearly and disciple children in their faith journey.
Q&A Session
With Bro. V. Suresh & Bro. Pramod
An interactive session where real ministry challenges were discussed, providing practical and biblical solutions for teachers.
